Giving a safety-device concept a physical form
A compact key-fob enclosure developed as a visual prototype.

- Role
- Enclosure CAD modelling and component-space checks
- Tools
- Fusion 360, F3D / STEP
- Period
- Mar–Apr 2026
- Status
- Delivered and approved
I translated a key-fob-style SOS device brief into an editable enclosure model, coordinating the visual details and internal component space before handoff.
The brief
The client needed a looks-like prototype for photography and a crowdfunding video. The brief specified a compact enclosure with top and bottom shells and a surrounding frame, plus space for a PCB and battery. The intended outcome was a physical visual prop.
How it went
Align the CAD workflow with the client
The client requested Fusion 360, so I used that format for the editable delivery. We worked from the supplied specification and key-fob references.
Resolve visible product details
I confirmed USB-C as the intended port direction, incorporated branding and developed the SOS button treatment. I shared progress views so the client could react to the form.
Plan the enclosure as parts
I proposed locating pins between the shells and a removable dummy battery. The client approved those changes. I checked the supplied PCB and battery dimensions against the model’s interior.
Deliver an editable handoff
I sent the Fusion source, a STEP export and a Fusion sharing link. Both milestones were approved and the client confirmed release of the final payment.
The decision I would defend
I kept the work aligned with a visual prototype while still considering how the shell parts and internal placeholder components would fit together.
Outcome
The client approved the changes and released the final funds after receiving the model. The delivered files provide an editable basis for the next stage of the product.
Delivered
- Fusion 360 source file
- STEP model
- Shared Fusion model link
- Progress and assembly views
Scope and limits
This is a visual enclosure prototype, not a validated safety device. Waterproofing, electronics, production tooling and functional reliability were outside the demonstrated result.
